Summer Vacation Series: Day 4- Munich, Germany

We started off the day going to the Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. Holy cow. What a dream!
The flowers around the grounds were gorgeous!

The grounds behind the palace were full of Greek statues.

Travis enjoyed posing with the statues.

The grounds behind Nymphenburg Palace also had acres of paths leading to other little houses.

We walked around the grounds and were amazed at how beautiful it was.
I wish this is what my backyard looked like!
A cute little German man stopped and talked to us. At first he spoke German (uhhhh me no speaky da German). When he realized we were Americans, he spoke really slow, broken English. He was so cute!

We visited a few of the little houses they had behind the palace.
 This building is called Pagodenburg.
Downstairs was decorated in blue and gold. LOVED IT!

Upstairs had two small, but extravagant rooms.

Next we stopped at Badenburg.
The details were insane.

  This was a bath house.
They had a huge indoor bath.
Lastly, we stopped at Magdalenenklause (that's a mouthful).
Everything inside was made of shells and coral!

After walking around the grounds for a long time, we ventured back to do a tour of the palace.
The walls were a pretty blue color, the chandeliers gold, gold accents everywhere, and there were paintings on the ceilings and walls. In short, it was breathtakingly beautiful.

We walked around other rooms for the tour. I loved the furniture in the rooms. It was easy to imagine people living in them.

We listened to a little speaker that talked us through each room.

After taking the tour, we said "guten tag" to the palace and headed to downtown Munich.
We first stopped at the glockenspiel (clock at town hall).

This guy was playing pranks on people. He was hilarious to watch.
Then we went inside a big church in Munich. The churches in Germany are so extravagant and amazing.

We walked around Munich for a while longer

We stopped to rest at an interesting looking fountain.

 Hailey loved touching the water.

Then she was passed around and given LOTS of attention.

After we were rested, we decided to head back to our hotel in Garmisch to make our dinner reservation. What a great day in Munich!

Day 1- Heidelberg
