Summer Vacation Series: Day 2- Rothenburg, Germany

Our first stop was the chocolate shop right outside Stuttgart. The Ritter Sport chocolates are to die for! And the store is huge! There are so many different flavors and sizes to choose from. Hailey had her first bite, and fell in love. We bought a few to take home with us.

 Yummmmm!

After stocking up on chocolate, we made the short drive over to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (aka just Rothenburg- pronounced Rote-in-burg). Rothenburg is an awesome medieval town surrounded by a huge wall. Somehow this town has managed to stay the same for many many years. It felt like walking back in time when we stepped into the city.

First we walked along the wall and got a great view of the city.

Then we headed down from the wall and spent the day walking through the city and admiring the character.

It felt like we were in a movie!

We went into Kathe Wohlfahrt. It's a huge, famous Christmas store in Germany.

We got an ornament for our first German souvenir!
Isn't he cute?!
We walked around some gardens and enjoyed the view of the city.

Germany is so full of color and charm. From the color of the buildings to the flower boxes hanging from the windows, all of it makes my heart happy.

You'll probably see a lot of pictures of us posing by doors. Even the doors in Germany are full of character!

We ate dinner at one of the outdoor restaurants while we waited for the night watchman tour.

A night watchman was the guy that guarded the city at night back in the day. They were considered just above gravediggers on the social totem pole. We had a guy dressed up as a night watchman take us on a tour around the city.

He was super quirky and had a great sense of humor.

Hailey wasn't too impressed with him though.
The tour lasted about an hour, so it grew dark. I loved the city all lit up.

After the tour, we headed back to Travis' parents' house to get rest before day 3. (Holy moly, that double apostrophe can't be right..)

Still, more to come!

If you missed Day 1 in Heidelberg go HERE.
